You have 4 walls, make them unique with Wall Stencils
Faux painting a wall gives a room an accent piece. That wall can be the focal point that brings everything in the room together. Faux finishing and the technique of faux painting is artwork in itself. A faux finished wall also makes an excellent backdrop for homeowners personal art pieces.
“When you look at a wall after I've completed it your first thought shouldn't be ‘look at that faux finishing’. Your first thought should be ‘look at that room’. Faux painting a wall shouldn't overtake the room it should be made to look like a natural part of the room. “- Brenda Macaluso
She’s had clients decide to use faux finishing on the wall just because it makes them feel good. Faux finished walls can add a great deal of pizzazz to a room or can make a home feel and look rich or modern or unique or whichever style you are trying to project. A faux finished wall can give you the style and the look that you want in your home.
One of the most requested reasons her clients create a faux finish wall is to create a unique look that will stand apart from any other wall in any other house.
Faux Painting is like Wall ArtBeautiful wall art done with a faux painting effect of sea spray in a master bedroom by Macaluso Custom Design, 203 NE 70th Terrace, Gladstone MO 64118. Turn your bedroom walls into wall art by faux painting them!
Their faux painting process starts with detailed preparation. They first come into a room and cover all the furniture and flooring. They prepare by taping the room, if necessary, and setting up any ladders or scaffolding that is used in a project. Next comes prepping walls. If the client has wallpaper on a wall and they be applying a faux painting technique to that wall, they seal the wallpaper and can faux paint right over it!
The faux painting technique is a layering process. The artists at Macaluso Custom Design may spend a portion of time each day at the client’s home adding a layer at a time. Except for the day of preparation, they may not spend an entire day in a client’s home during the process but up to several hours each day over the course of 4 to 9 days. The same time frame is applied to cabinets. It surprises many of their clients to find that that the wall is going to look very bad before it looks very good. The first step is the basecoat. This first step creates depth in a wall followed by the next several steps that complete the customized, individual, custom look and technique.
How to choose the right wall stencils professional
Choose a faux painting professional who is very detail oriented and has lots of client experience. Creativity and being good with color is an important benefit to the process. Having these skills is a must to accomplish a finished wall stencils product that will flow with the house. The number of steps and how long the process takes is determined by the intricacy of the technique the client chooses as well as the size and scope of the area to be painted. Each step to add wall art typically takes one day to complete. A four step process will take four days.
Walls should be in good condition before adding faux painting wall art to a wall. If the technique the customer has chosen is a smooth finish technique than any nail pops will stand out. We work with the customer to advise them if a technique they are looking for will work with the wall or not.
There are times when a wall that's damaged would work well with a certain technique so they will take that into consideration before developing and presenting certain techniques, i.e. texture, to clients for their consideration. This saves the clients time and money in repairing damaged walls. They can also work over wallpaper by first sealing the wallpaper before applying any faux finishing technique. Again this saves the client money by having to remove wallpaper and possibly repair damaged walls as a result.
Macaluso Custom Design will present our portfolio of work to potential clients as well as photos of our work and rooms that we completed. Make sure that any faux finishers you interview not only have product of samples, but they also have photos of work that they have done. Painters just beginning in the business may not have the experience of working on actual home walls.
Beware of potential painters who show portfolios on an iPad. As a client, you need to be able to see a sample and feel it. A good sample ensures you make a good decision about the best technique, color and finish for your walls. A computer photo cannot translate the depth and scope of a real faux sample for you.
